The District 205 Foundation for Educational Excellence is looking for a few good men and women who would like to help make a difference for all students in District 205. What better way to give back to the community in which you are raising your children than to work with like-minded individuals to raise funds for innovative and supportive programs?

Board members serve a three-year term with renewal options and work with other dedicated volunteers in supporting educational programs, including the annual Thiems Grants and the Study Skills Program in place at all K-8 schools.

Foundation funds are being used to purchase wi-fi hot spot devices to provide high speed internet access outside of school for identified students that do not have it. The Title I funding that provided these devices in the past has been significantly reduced, and the Foundation is picking up the cost to ensure that students have the opportunity to fully engage in their education with this important resource.

Three new Model Classrooms for District

 $50,000 Model Classroom Pilot Project

The classroom environment is more than just four walls and a place to sit.  It is a  multi-purpose learning space that must accomodate movement, multiple ongoing activities, directed learning, large and small group work, and the infusion of technology that brings the world inside those walls. Lighting, accustics, and seating options are just a few factors that impact student learning. Meeting students' sensory needs allows them to be more engaged in classroom activities. And engagment is important to learning. The classroom becomes a variable that helps the teacher teach more effectively and the student expereince more meaningful.
